Christy Whitney, RN, MS

Christy Whitney is a master’s-prepared Registered Nurse who began her hospice career as a nurse over twenty-nine years ago. She helped found an all-volunteer hospice program in Durango, Colorado in 1979, served as a Vice President of Mercy Medical Center in Durango, then served as CEO of Hospice of Northern Virginia. She was recruited to Grand Junction in 1993 to be the founding CEO of Hospice of the Grand Valley (as we were originally known). Under her leadership, Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado has grown to become one of the most innovative hospice and palliative care organizations in the country.
She serves as an active Board member for the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the National Hospice Work Group, and Western Healthcare Alliance.

Sarah Walsh, CPA

Joining the Hospice team in January 1998, Sarah initialized an in depth review of the system. She participated in Hospice familiarization and orientation with staff and took advantage of both national and regional opportunities.
This analysis led to the development of various financial management tools that interpret system information for staff and managers as well as the Board. Applying her experience from corporate analysis to the healthcare realm, Sarah has been able to implement advantageous strategies for Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado. Emphasis on identifying key control and cost drivers has provided an ongoing thorough analysis with focus on solutions that accelerate growth, while allowing for expansion of the mission.
Sarah is an active member of the CFO Forum of the National Hospice Work Group. She has served as faculty for the Manager Development Program for the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. |

Terri Walter, RN, MSN

Terri joined Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado in September 2000. Terri’s Hospice career started in 1987 when she was Primary Nurse for Porter Hospice in Denver. From 1988-1999 she served as Director of Porter Hospice, leading the hospital-based Hospice organization through steady growth in daily census, the establishment of two inpatient hospice facilities, integration with a home health program and a merger with another Hospice.
Terri has been active in state and national Hospice organizations, serving on various committees and taskforces and speaking on the topics of Inpatient Hospice and Quality Management. Most recently she has been a member of the Colorado Hospice Organization Board of Directors and in 2008 will serve as Treasurer of the Colorado Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. |

Amy Mohler, MD

Amy Mohler, MD, joined Hospice in 2002 as the Associate Medical Director. In her current role of Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer, she will have overall administrative responsibility for the medical component of the Hospice patient care program, and will be accountable for quality, consistency, and accessibility of hospice and palliative care services across all levels of care and all regions.
Dr. Mohler received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her Medical Internship, Internal Medicine Residency and Geriatric Fellowship at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. |

Kerri Mosinski,

Kerri Mosinski is a founding member of this organization and has provided direct services to clients and developed the design and implementation of the psychosocial support systems of the organization. Today she holds the position of Vice President of Grand Junction Programs. In this role she is responsible for development and oversight of the following programs in the Grand Junction office: hospice, bereavement, counseling, child/teen services and nurse case management services for individuals with serious illness. Prior to locating to Grand Junction, she served as a Clinical Social Worker at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange, California for 5 years. |

Kathy O'Shea,

Kathy joined Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado in August 2005. As Vice President of Development, she oversees strategic planning for philanthropy programs at all Hospice sites. Kathy began her Development career at St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation in Grand Junction where she served in several positions working with staff, donors and volunteers. In addition, she has a twelve-year history of volunteer leadership in Grand Junction.
Kathy is a member of Association for Healthcare Philanthropy; she is also a member of Grand Junction Rotary, serving on the Board of Directors. |

Jim Hoganson,

Jim joined Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado for the second time in June 2005 as Program Director for the Montrose/Ouray County office. Jim played a key role in starting Hospice of the Plains of Yuma County in Eastern Colorado. While filling the role of Social Worker, Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator as a volunteer, Jim developed a passion for hospice care. In 1999 Jim went to work full-time with Hospice of the Plains as Family Services Coordinator. In October of 2001, Jim and his wife Nancy moved to Grand Junction where Jim took the position of Chaplain with Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado. In May of 2002 Jim became Coordinator of Support Services for the Grand Junction office. |

Doris Janowski,

Doris Janowski joined Hospice in June 2007. She has 35 years of experience in marketing, management and teaching for colleges and universities, professional theatres, and international engineering and construction firms. She has lived/worked in Chicago, Denver, Omaha, Dallas, Houston, New York City and London. Her theatre experience ranges from teaching at Illinois State University and Columbia College to directing programs at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago and the Denver Center Theatre Company. Her experience in the field of engineering and construction encompasses corporate communications, strategic proposal management, presentation coaching and training, and the development of materials for Congressional testimony.
As the head of her own firm, Janowski Consulting, she provided presentation coaching services internationally to clients ranging from Parsons Brinckerhoff to Halliburton Brown & Root and worked in such far-flung locations as Turkey, Australia and Scotland.

Kirk Wallick, CPHIT

Kirk joined Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado in October 2005. He has worked in technology for more than 15 years, with more than 10 years of IT management with several large organizations across the country. Kirk currently oversees IT strategic direction and technology design for Hospice, leveraging his background in systems management and network engineering. Emphasizing IT quality and security with cost awareness, Kirk’s leadership has already provided Hospice a solid foundation of technology infrastructure. Always aware of the need to recognize the changing needs of the organization and shifting trends in technology, Kirk is an enthusiastic student of finding ways that technology can assist an organization to realize its goals.
Kirk is a graduate of the University of Colorado, a participating member of the Western Healthcare Alliance, a founding member of the Rocky Mountain IT Professionals Association, and a Certified Professional in Health Information Technology (CPHIT).
