Hospice provides an array of support groups to help people of all ages cope with
the loss of a loved one.

Support groups can help put feelings in perspective and reduce the sense of isolation that often accompanies loss. Our support groups provide an opportunity to share experiences, thoughts and feelings with understanding peers, which can be the first step toward building new social relationships and developing hope for the future.

Many of these services are free. Others are offered at a nominal fee on a sliding scale basis or are covered by insurance. All support group meetings are conducted by professional counselors and trained volunteers. See a schedule of groups below.

Just for Men - An Opportunity to Learn About Grief

Men who have experienced the death of a loved one can find support through “Just for Men,” a grief group offered by Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado.  This group meets every Tuesday at the Miller Homestead, 3090 North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO. Just for Men is open to any man in the community who is grieving the loss of a loved one. There is no need for the deceased to have been a Hospice patient.

Studies have shown that men and women, children and teens, all grieve differently. Hospice has developed this specialized, educational group just for men. This group provides an opportunity for men to consider various methods or techniques of dealing with the problems that arise as the result of a loss.  It is an opportunity to ask questions and get answers and is not a group therapy session. It is an exploration of the grieving process as experienced by men.

Hospice professional staff and volunteers will facilitate the meetings. There is no charge for attendance, but registration is required.

If you have questions or need additional information, please contact Jim at 248-8844
