Camp Good Grief! takes place July 30 - August 1, 2010 at Camp Cedaredge in Cedaredge, CO. It is a grief camp for children and teens entering grades 3-8 who have lost a loved one.

Camp Good Grief! is a camp for kids who have had someone special in their lives die.  It gives kids a chance to share thoughts and feelings about their loss with other kids who have had the same experience.

You may think that if you attend a camp like this that it might be sad or scary.  Actually, it is a lot of fun!  There will be adults at camp and one of them will hang out with you for the weekend.  They'll be your buddy to answer questions, to have one-on-one conversations and to have fun with!
 
   
   

Check out the exciting things you'll get to do at camp:

  • Friday - In late afternoon, you'll travel by bus to Camp Cedaredge. Unpack your gear and get together for an evening of activites.
  • Saturday - The day is packed with things to do. We'll learn from each other as we explore the meaning of the death of our loved ones in both a group setting and with our adult partner. We'll play games, do crafts, and spend the afternoon with Bump and Jump! Most of all we will laugh and have fun together!
  • Sunday - We will participate in a memorial service honoring our loved ones. We'll take time in a closing ceremony to reflect on our experiences at camp and say farewell to new friends.

What is the cost of Camp?Thanks to grants and donations from local charities and businesses, the cost is only $35 per participant.

The $35 fee includes transportation, room, meals, and activities.  Just bring your gear and your participation!  Scholarships are available for those who are unable to meet the cost of camp.  Please call 970-245-5377 for information.

The goal of Camp Good Grief! is to provide a safe and compassionate environment for children and teens to explore their grief with their peers and also to have fun!

Issues of grief and loss are hard for anyone to handle, but they can be especially confusing and painful for children and teens. We invite your child to take part in what will be a positive and healing experience.  Sharing with other children and teens who are in a similar situation and knowing that they are not alone can be very helpful.
